Velocity exhibition booth 2024.
Home race at ‘t kuipke.
From June 18 to 21, 2024, Velocity took place. The event moves to a different European city each year, but this time it landed on home ground. And if there is one place where cycling truly belongs, it is ’t Kuipke in Ghent. Usually the temple of six day track racing, it now served as the backdrop for an international cycling exhibition.
The Department of Mobility and Public Works could not miss it. They asked us to develop an interactive exhibition stand focused on the rapidly evolving cycling network in Flanders. We created a stand that did more than inform, it allowed visitors to experience it.
moving full speed ahead.
The stand revolved around four themes and offered three possible routes. Visitors could hop on a bike while watching an informational video, with a team member providing additional insights. Or they could choose an interactive 3D experience, virtually cycling along one of the new cycling highways, wind in their hair included, at least figuratively.
And then there was the competition. Inspired by the classic fairground camel race, participants raced against one, two, or three opponents. The first to cross the finish line won.
experience in high gear.
Everything was designed and produced with quality and sustainability in mind. The entire stand is modular, making it reusable at multiple locations.
With no rigging structure available to hang lighting, we found a creative solution by equipping the plinths with elegant single tube design lighting. And since it had to be a fully public stand without separate storage space, we transformed the bases of the screens and lighting into functional storage units.
The result? A functional, attractive, interactive, and elegant exhibition stand running at full speed.
