Limburg takes the lead for exello.net on tour 2024.

Each year, Exello.net entrusts the organization of its annual members’ congress to a provincial working group. This time, it was Limburg’s turn. Together with managing directors from Houthalen Helchteren, Hasselt, Lummen, Zonhoven, and other Limburg municipalities, we brought Exello.net On Tour 2024 to life. The theme was TRANSITION, because system change is the new normal for local governments. This year, members of the International City Managers Association, ICMA, were also invited to join.

On Wednesday, May 29, participants traveling from afar were invited to an evening activity. We headed to the Jenever Museum in Hasselt, because when in Hasselt, followed by a reception at the Radisson Blu hotel. A good glass of jenever, shared stories, new faces. There is no better way to kick off a congress.

On Thursday, Corda Campus opened its doors. After coffee and pastries, the program started with a keynote by Rik Vera and Karen De Sousa Pesse. Participants then chose their own breakout session, from leadership in transition to sustainability and more. During lunch, something happened that no one saw coming: a pole dancing robot, created by an Exello.net partner, stole the show.

In the afternoon, things became practical. Participants headed out by bus, bike, or on foot to explore real transition projects in the Hasselt and Genk region. Back on campus, the program continued with a keynote by Tom Palmaerts and a strong closing summary by co host Mona Thijs. The day ended with a walking dinner and a performance by Joe Hardy.
